Lanakila Baptist Graduate Makes Waves in South Carolina Receives State Guard Appointment from Governor
COLUMBIA, SC: Elizabeth Cobbs Bailey of Fort Mill, SC was appointed Second Lieutenant in the State Guard of South Carolina by Governor Henry McMaster effective January 9, 2019. A formal ceremony was held in Columbia on February 2nd and presided over by State Guard Commander, and Richland County Sheriff, Brigadier General Leon L. Lott. Nearly 100 members of the State Guard were on hand for the ceremony, including Deputy Commander, BG Michael Langston, Professional Services Detachment Commander COL William Floyd, Cyber Security Commander William Oden, and Search & Rescue (SARCOM) Commander MAJ Glenn L. Hamm.
2LT Bailey joined the State Guard in 2018 rising to the rank of Corporal prior to receiving her commission. She is a member of the Professional Services Command (PSC) under the leadership of COL William Floyd. Following State Guard deployments supporting Hurricane Florence evacuation, rescue, and recovery efforts, 2LT Bailey was tasked with the development of a comprehensive Tactical Operations Center (TOC) training program for PSC units including Engineers, Medical, Chaplain Corp, SARCOM, Provost Marshal, and the Judge Advocate General. She is also developing e-learning training programs for in-processing of new personnel.
2LT Bailey was born and raised in Makakilo, Hawaii and is a graduate of Lanakila Baptist High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Hawaii and received a Master’s of Science Degree in Fraud and Compliance Management from Utica College in New York in 2012.
2LT Bailey moved to the mainland from Hawaii in 2015 to join the LPL Financial team as a Senior Fraud Investigator before accepting a position as a Quality Control Analyst in 2017. She is married to Brad E. Bailey, of Schertz Texas, a Marketing coordinator, who also serves in the State Guard as a Business Development Coordinator.
2LT Bailey’s parents, Marcia and Stan Cobbs currently reside in of Ewa Beach.
